More Inspiring Bedrooms

My parents went on vacation, and you know what that means!
Reno Time!
Yes, last year when they went away, I did a facelift on their master bedroom.  So, this year
I have decided that I would redo my old bedroom, which has become the kids bedroom when they stay for the night.
I was looking at some bedroom picture to get some inspiration.  Here are a few I thought I would share.

This is a lovely looking room. I like the fabric headboard, the pillows and the dovet at the bottom of the bed.
What is interesting is the feature wall that is covered with a wonderful wallpaper.
What really catches your eye is the purple rug on the floor.

This room looks like something out of a hotel.
Did you notice the blue ceiling?
I have noticed there are painted ceiling showing up.  This is another one of those.

This is a cheery attic bedroom.  There are some great girly patterns in this room.
I love the trusses that create and open feeling.

So this past week-end I went and took some before pictures
I also did some prep for painting, which might start tomorrow.

And some prep work done.

Curb appeal

I was reading this great article from This Old House Magazine e-mail this morning.  I thought I would share it with you.  It talks about adding curb appeal to your house. Here are some ideas for you.

1. Standout Windows

These architectural focal points can make a big impact. Highlight them with paint, shutters, or flower boxes.

2. Inviting Landscape

Well-tended and in proportion to the house, plantings provide shape and color to accentuate the architecture.

3. Welcoming Entry

Porches and porticos frame the front door, extending an invitation to guests.

4. Unifying Paint

A successful scheme enhances architectural detail and works with the landscape.

5. Shipshape Siding

The backdrop for all other exterior details, shingles, clapboards, and masonry should be in top condition.

6. Handsome Roof

A very visible umbrella sheltering all other built details. Its shingles should be in good shape.

Hope you enjoyed.

Rebecca picked her own colors for her bedroom.
Here are some pictures.

Final kitchen pictures.

Here are some pictures of the finished kitchen

The posts in the living room.  I designed them to be in the wall.

Front entry benches

Kids bathroom almost done.

Our garage door finally installed.  Yes we built a 1 car garage.  I think it measures 17 x 27.  We will eventually build a 2 car garage off to the side.

You can see my window from the front entry here.
This is the basement staircase.
We are working on finishing it now.
